My new toy

At the end of last week I purchased a new bicycle. I have wanted a road bike for quite a while, and it seems now is the time to get them. Stores really want to get rid of the 2006 bikes, so they are willing to negotiate. I bought a Trek Pilot 1.2. This is considered a "performance" bike, rather than a racing bike. It has a more upright riding position, so it is more comfortable for people like myself with bad backs, but you are less aerodynamic than you would be on a racing bike. I have really enjoyed riding it. Yesterday I went with a friend for a ride from Evansdale to Brandon and back. It clocked in at 49 miles on my odometer. I have put about 76 miles on it in the past 3 days, which is not bad for a person who has not ridden farther than the mile and a half to work in about 5 years. Hopefully I can keep with this. I would really like to do Ragbrai with a couple friends next year.

Heinz hates adults.

I was quite excited a few weeks ago to see that Heinz was having a promotion where you could order custom bottles of ketchup. Heinz has been putting fun little quips on bottles, and now you could submit your own and get a bottle with that printed on it. I thought of something that I thought was appropriate for a Ketchup bottle, "Squirt it on your weiner." Today I received an email from Heinz saying that adult humor violates their terms and conditions. I am kind of confused, I don't see what is so adult about it. People of all ages can enjoy a little ketchup on their ball park franks. I also don't see what is so funny about it. Unfortunately I will not be receiving my custom ketchup bottle. Thanks for nothing Heinz.

Crazy

Work has been crazy busy lately, so when I go home the last thing that has been on my mind is to jump back on a computer to update my blog. Since I have no comments I am going to assume that my reader has given up on me. Seems as though summer has come to an end, and soon I will have to wear nicer clothes and deal with more people. Until then, I have a ton of crap to do. Thanks for checking in, and drop me a comment, I promise I will update if you do...

Borat The Movie!

I found out today that the official release date of my soon to be favorite movie ever is November 3. I have been looking forward to this movie ever since I first heard the rumor that it was being made. For those of you who don't know, Borat is one of the characters of the Ali-G show. This was originally a British TV show, but HBO picked it up for 2 seasons. He takes the role of 3 different characters and does interviews and stuff with people as these characters. There is Ali-G, the gangster from West Stanes England, with quotes like "So why did jesus go 'round wit all dem reindeers?"
Bruno, the flamboyant reporter from Austria with quotes like "So what you are saying is that it is OK for me to admire a man's penis in the shower, but once I put it in my mouth, I have crossed some sort of a line?"
and finally Borat, my personal favorite, the reporter from Kazakhstan, with quotes like "There is land of opportunities in US and A. For man, construction work, taxi driving and accountancy. For woman, as a prostitute."

Timber!

When I came back from Minnesota my wife showed me a nice sized branch that had split and fallen over on our roof. Needless to say, I was thrilled. Anyway, we were able to get it all taken care of and there was really no damage to the roof. I was impressed when Krystal asked if she could weild the chainsaw. Of course I got pictures! Not a whole lot exciting going on, thus no updates... Hopefully I will update soon with some wedding pictures. Thanks for checking back!
