UNI vs ISU

Last night was the UNI vs ISU game. It was quite fun! UNI won 70 to 57. I really wanted to see this win, especially since we were up against our former coach, Greg McDermott. He did a lot for our program, but it was really fun to beat him. The Panthers looked really good last night. Coleman had a couple huge dunks that really got the crowd excited, and Ahelegbe, a freshman this year, was extremely fun to watch. He has so much energy and confidence. I have been quite impressed with the freshmen this year, I think UNI's program is going to continue to get stronger.
I forgot what it was like to watch a game in the Dome. Funny that it seemed so strange since I have been going to games in the Dome for years, and only to two games in the McLeod Center, but it reminded me just how awesome the McLeod center is. This should be a fun season. Good luck to the Panthers in Iowa City Tuesday! GO PANTHERS!

McLeod Center opening

This weekend the McLeod Center at UNI had it's grand opening. It was pretty cool. Krystal and I went to the dedication and open house on Saturday, and then we went to the Mens Basketball game Sunday evening. It was pretty cool. The energy in that place was Awesome! Games are going to be a lot more fun there, especially after going to games in the Dome for the last several years. The Dome was just way too big for basketball. With the new arena you are so much closer to the game, and the place just fills up with the roar and excitement of the crowd. I think that everyone was getting more in to the game also, the energy spread fast. Dancing man was back, and actually at the dedication I found out that dancing man is actually Eric Crawford's Dad's best friend. I always knew he was awesome, but now I know who he is. Click here for some non-camera-phone pictures of the McLeod Center.

PS3 sales

So, I decided against waiting in the cold for over 24 hours to get a PS3. Some of my friends did get them. Although there are currently over 5000 consoles on ebay, I have watched the last several go for over $9000 in auction. There are many listed with a buy it now of around $4000, so I guess people just want to get the top one in the results. :) I love retarded people, and I wish my friends the best of luck. I bet by the end of the day 1/2 of the PS3s sold this morning will be on e-bay with the prices they are going for. I wonder how long it will be before someone buys a box... :) I have also read articles about riots, and actually one guy that got shot in a line waiting.

I like!

I was able to see Borat this weekend, and I laughed through the whole thing. I was quite pleased. Quality. I am hoping that after the Bruno movie Sacha Baron Cohen will be working on some new characters.
I got a win in Fantasy Football this week, and I am starting to look like I may make the finals. I am currently recovering from an ear infection and sinus infection, and cold, so each day is less awful than the day before. For my loyal readers, I am sorry that the comments are not updating properly. I am using a beta version of Blogger so that I could get RSS. You win some, you lose some...

Borat Update

Cedar Falls is in fact getting "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation Kazakhstan today! I am quite excited to see it, as I have been since they announced that they were making the movie. As much as I hate to say it, Fox might have made a good move limiting the release last week, although I doubt they had the right reasons. Borat is sure to open number 1 again this week since it is going to be available to everyone, so that will be impressive for the statistics. Also, I am sure the word of mouth and reviews we are being hit with will increase the number of people going this weekend. Now, I can not say it was worth waiting another week to see it, but I can see a benefit of this on Fox and Sacha Baron Cohen's side. Speaking of which, Bruno the movie has been announced and bidding on the rights has ended, so there will be another Sacha movie out before we know it, you can expect my usual updates.

Due to popular demand my blog now has a feed. (I guess that makes you popular Matt)

On a not so happy note, I am still sick, and I am actually planning on going to the doctor today. That is right, I am going to the doctor. I have always been one to just say it will get better on it's own, but when webmd says I should contact a health professional immediately, I make an exception. Happy Friday everyone! High Five!

Mustache, Fantasy Football, and Borat Updates

You know that is hot. Click the image for a larger version. Unfortunately we did not really do anything for Halloween, but I knew people would be disappointed if I shaved in preparation for No shave November and did not post a mustache picture, so here it is, in all it's glory. I am sorry that there are not as many pictures as I had hoped, and no Borat. On a brighter note No-Shave-November is under way. Also, because I have not been as good at updating about fantasy football updates, John and I tied last week with a huge 125 points, and this week I set the single week scoring record with 162, or something outrageous like that. Because we had made a bet on this game, Nick owes me a six pack for each point I beat him by. Right now I think he is at 74, or something equally moderate. Nice work Nick. On to the bad news and other good news... Borat the movie only opened in 837 theaters. Fox made the ridiculous assumption that people did not know about the movie, and scaled back the opening. They wanted to rely on word of mouth and then do a large scale opening. Unfortunately (the bad news) the closest place to see the movie was Des Moines so I did not see it opening day as hoped. The good news is that it had a rediculously high gross for so few theaters, and rested firmly at #1, and will be opening in a lot more theaters this Friday, when I will hopefully see it. Very Nice! High Five!
