Tiling our basement

If anyone who reads this does not already know, Krystal and I are tiling our basement. This was kind of unplanned. Yes, we are accidentally tiling our basement. Our friend Nick donated his desk to me, and I figured while I had my desk out of the office anyway, it would be a good time to fix some drywall in that room and paint everything. While we had everything out of the room, we noticed that the carpet was in worse condition than we thought it was, so I looked in the ads to see if anyone had some reasonable tile on sale, thinking we could just do that room for now. We have a lot of linoleum down there also that looked nasty, but we would have to do that when funding was available. There was actually some tile in the Lowes ad for 58 cents a tile. We decided to go pick it up, and for that price decided we could replace the linoleum also. We got there and it was actually marked down to 51 cents per tile. Yippee! A couple weeks later we decided if we could still get more we would do another room that has nasty carpet. Well we could not get any more, but the tile was now cleared out at 17 cents a tile, and we got a price match!!! :) If you are still reading this I am impressed. Tiling has taken a lot longer than I had expected, but it is looking good. I am pleased. I will try to update more, I just have not done much recently besides flooring and spending money on flooring products.

birthday

I had a birthday this past weekend, actually I have one about once a year, so i thought it was time for another... Well Krystal really went over the top this year, I owe her big. We had pretty much agreed that we were not really doing anything for my birthday, maybe lay some tile in the basement. Well the night before my actual birthday there was a UNI basketball game, so of course we went to that. I was surprised to see my mom and Krystal's parents at the game. During one of the time-outs the entire cheer squad came up to our seats to deliver a basketball signed by the team. Awesome. Krystal is good. We then went back to our place for some cake, ice cream, and of course darts. Actually my mom gave me a new dartboard. I also got a UNI flag to fly on game days, and to decorate the basement every other day, and a UNI Jersey, so a pretty UNI themed birthday! :) Now if only we would have stomped Creighton.
UNI plays Missouri State tomorrow, and believe it or not Missouri State canceled classes for the entire week because of some ice storms. Much of the area is without power, but the game will still be on. Hopefully the student section will be pretty quiet, but they are giving away free tickets, so there might be pretty good attendance. Either way, lets plan on a W for UNI! The MVC is looking pretty good, but I think we are going to end up beating each other out of bids. Hopefully for the rest of the season we can do the beating! GO PANTHERS!

Jury duty

I was called for jury duty yesterday and was actually chosen to sit on the jury. I was not too excited to find out I would be in court until mid/late next week. Today was actually my last day though, to our surprise. All I really got to do was hear opening statements. Well I am not really sure what I can or can not say, so I won't say anything more. On a completely unrelated topic, here is an interesting article in the Courier.

New Year

I hope everyone had some happy holidays, and that Santa was good to everyone. I took a little over a week off, and it was splendid. I guess I will just list off a few small updates, since I don't have any real updates: I actually got a lot done around the house, which was nice. I put the last coat of mud on last night for the drywall I replaced in the basement. I am looking forward to getting that painted and everything put away again. I continue to find that who ever did most of the work on our house was mentally incapable of doing such a thing. Thanks to Nick's donation I will have a new desk, lets get 3 cheers for Nick! My father-in-law did some major work on my car, so it is not completely falling apart any more, lets get 3 cheers for Mark! UNI beat the #16 team, they are no longer ranked. Sorry Shockers! Tonight we play Evansville at home, so don't bother me. :) As of now I don't have a lot more to add. Hopefully someday soon I will upload some mustache pictures for everyone to enjoy.
