nationaldarts.com is awful

One of the things that drew me to having a blog is that when I was displeased with something I could make the information available for anyone interested, and a few people that might not be interested. I am currently still having such an experience with nationaldarts.com, formerly khgear.com. I ordered several items from the site a little over a month and a half ago now. After 3 weeks I did finally receive a package that contained about half of my order, along with a packing slip that had stamps next to some of the items in my order saying they would ship later, as well as check marks by things that were packed with this shipment. I noticed that an order of 100 tips was not in current shipment, and had no markings near it. I tried to contact them to make sure this was included in the next shipment. Over the next two weeks I left 2 phone messages on their machine that reported that they were having technical difficulties with the phones, at minimum 4 emails, some to each of the addresses I found as the contact, and tried to contact them with the "contact us" form on the website. I finally heard back with a "We shipped it all to you, but some of it came back, we will resend it, we are working on our customer service issues" message. A few days later I get a small package with a couple of the items missing from the original order, (still not the entire order) and a 94 cent set of shafts for my inconvenience. Now, in all of those e-mails and phone messages I specifically asked about that order of tips, I still have heard nothing about them, and still have not seen them. I have tried twice since receiving that package to get in contact with someone there to get this figured out, but they are once again ignoring my messages. I wanted to make a post, just in case anyone is thinking of ordering from them and happen to see this first, I would highly recommend going to another site for your needs.

lovely weekend

For those of you who do not live in the area, the weather this past weekend was lovely. I was really hoping for an ice storm to tear down tree branches and power lines. I guess now I will have plenty to burn this spring in our little outdoor fireplace. We still have about an inch of ice on our driveway, streets are pretty much cleaned off now. We were lucky to not actually lose power. Sounds like some people are still without. Well, since it was so nice out, we decided to spend some time inside. Saturday we did nothing during the day, but had to get out to make it to the last UNI Men's home game this year. GO PANTHERS! Sunday we went out to Home Depot and got some supplies to do some work around the house. We finally got the water softener out. It has been there doing nothing, probably for years before we moved in. It was my first attempt at soldering copper pipes. Slightly frustrating, but it was eventually successful. The water softener is now just sitting in a closet. If there happens to be anyone who reads this blog that has a truck they would like to lend me sometime, I do have some things that need to go to the dump. Speaking of people that read this blog and have a truck... Thanks Matt for lending me the torch! :)
If anyone actually cares, we are still working on the tile project. Krystal cleaned out the closets so we can start tiling them, and now that the water softener is out, we can prepare that area for tile. We also bought some grout sealer this weekend, so we also have that ahead of us. Hopefully soon I will be able to take the toilet and sink out of the shower. Yippee.

Chicago Auto Show

Over this past weekend I went to the Chicago Auto Show with my in-laws. It was really good to spend some time with them, and it was really impressive. I had never been to a car show of new cars and concepts. I have been to a lot of shows of custom, classic cars, and hot rods, but they are completely different. The building is HUGE, and it is packed with auto companies showing off the newest cars. I thought it was really cool to see the concepts, because you will never see them (maybe something similar) on the road. The picture here is of the Toyota FT-HS. It is a 400 HP hybrid sports car. Beautiful. I would love it if it goes in to production. Toyota should get into the sports car market again, especially now that they are getting in to racing with more force. I was also impressed with the VW Rabbit. It was surprisingly roomy and comfortable, and for 15k, I think it is awesome. Totally different than the FT-HS, but I don't think I will ever see one of those in my garage. :) Pretty fun experience, I think I will return next year if I get the chance.

Taco Record at Reverb

Our weekly trip to the Reverb in downtown Cedar Falls was quite special last night. Last night my brother John beat the record for number of tacos eaten in a night at the Reverb. The previous record was 25, now it is 27 and 1/3. There was no vomit involved, just misery. Also last night after the excitement/pain, we went to my friend matt's house. Pete and Nick had a fantastic argument. I taped part of it and will hopefully post it once I get it compressed.

ceramic dreams

Yeah, we are still tiling. It has lost it's novelty, but it is looking pretty good. We got all of the whole tiles laid, except for under the washer and water softener, and two closets, those will be after this batch is done. We were doing some final tiles around the hall and bathroom when we realized that we needed to pull the bathroom sink/vanity if we are going to do this right, so it will be a bit longer. Hopefully soon we will get that out and the floor ready. Until then we can work on grouting and sealing the floor. I am still without an office, so it will be nice to get that done.
Besides tiling not a whole lot of excitement going on. I am confused along with the rest of the UNI basketball fans as to what happened to our team. Still fun to watch, but curious why they can't win lately. Hopefully things will turn around tomorrow when we play at Creighton. I hate Creighton.

still tiling

We are still tiling. Still a mess. We have the office and the laundry room tile laid for the most part, with the exception of under the washer/dryer. Looks nice I think. We started last night on the hallway and the doorway to the bathroom. It was rather frustrating but we got quite a bit done, and I am looking forward to being done. I think the next step will be to finish grouting my office and the laundry room so we can start moving stuff in there. We should probably work on the bathroom, because right now the toilet is literally sitting in the shower.
On another note, I got a used trainer for my bike so that I can attempt to get in shape for RAGBRAI. Should be a good time! I am ready for spring. I am looking forward to riding the trails again, but until then, I guess I will be entertained by the television while I ride.
