Nationaldarts, and my car

Well, for those of you who read my blog, you may remember what has become the most popular post, about my problems with Nationaldarts.com. I ordered some dart supplies from them on January 13, and you can read the story about a lot of the problems I had with them if you don't remember, but they were horrible. Anyway, today, April 26, right around 3 and a half months after the order was placed I finally received the rest of my order. I thought that some people may find this interesting because much of my recent traffic has been from people having similar problems with Kyle Hove of Nationaldarts.com. I guess that the only advice I can give to people who made the mistake of ordering from him is to order from someone else if you need it soon, and don't stop bugging him. If you are lucky like me, you may get your stuff eventually.
Also today after I ran to grab some lunch, my car decided it did not want me to remove the key. Actually it refused to let me turn the key at all, so I could not even turn off the car. Well, since the car was conveniently still running, I decided to drive it to Community Honda to see if they could fix it for me. It took them half an hour to get the key out of the ignition. They cut me a new key from the numbers in their system, apparently the key I had been using was extremely worn. I would post a picture of the new and the old side by side, but I am not that dumb. They lubed up the cylinder and tested the new key and sent me on my way. I am just happy they did not need to replace the ignition.

bathroom wiring, UFC, and new breaks

For the most part this was a lovely weekend! Some great weather, and then some storms, neither of which I mind, unless of course the storm makes Sopranos flicker. That was not so cool... I spent a fair amount of time working on one of my friend' bathroom, which is now not a bathroom, wiring switches and stuff. It is always interesting to see what you will find in the walls. Often quite frightening. Saturday night Spike TV had a UFC on. Some major upsets. I was reminded that watching fights while drinking, then pulling out boxing gloves, is a bad idea. Thanks for reminding me Matt!
For the past week or so my neighbors have gotten to enjoy the sound of a train horn every time I back out of my driveway, so Sunday evening while it was raining I spent some time in my garage working on my breaks. Pete stopped by and helped with the massive confusion that set in, and he did not even sabotage by breaks! Thanks for the help Pete! I am sure my neighbors are also greatful. Next weekend we are having an uber-secret bachelor paintball party for Pete, but don't tell him!

Diet Coke Plus

So on my never ending quest for better health, I have found "Diet Coke Plus." This tastes almost identical to standard Diet Coke, but it has the added benefit of making me a healthy person. Now when I enjoy my soda I can be forcing niacin, vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, magnesium, and even zinc in to my body. I was also quite pleased to read on it's packaging that a recent study shows that all beverages do actually help hydrate your body, so I am looking in to Diet Coke Plus as a water replacement. Because I don't want to shock my body by suddenly barraging it with health, I think I will start with 4 cans a day, and work my way up to 3 liters a day. I figure I can't go wrong if I am drinking such a healthy beverage, and collecting "mycokerewards" points. I can't wait to reap the benefits. I love Coke.

nice weekend

The lack of updates is due to a lack of anything to write about, however, this past weekend was pretty good! We went back to Dubuque on Friday and I got to see my Mom, one of my sisters, and my nephew, which was really nice. Then on Saturday Krystal's parents, uncle, and brother helped us move the piano from her parents house to our house. It was actually much easier than I had expected. It is nice to have it home. I hope to get to hear Krystal play more now. We grilled and chilled in the afternoon. It was beautiful and perfect for throwing the disc around. Sunday Krystal and I went to "AntiGravity" at the Gallagher Bluedorn. It was really impressive. Then I got to hang out with my brother for a while and then watch "The Sopranos" and "Entourage." I love HBO series. :) Sounds like the weather is supposed to continue being nice. Maybe I will be able to get some work done on the yard this week.

Basement ceiling

Ever since we got our house, I knew that one of the things I would want to do is replace the stained, cracked and sagging ceiling tiles. They looked horrible, especially in the rec room. This weekend I was looking for anything to do, anything at all to keep my mind off feeling like crap, and it just so happens that Menards had 15% off all of their ceiling tiles. We did not get enough to do all of them, but enough for the rec room and the laundry room. I have replaced the ones in the Rec room so far, which should be the harder ones. I also had to add a lot of the cross supports, because we went from the 2x4 tiles to the 2x2 tiles. Looks a ton better, still not great because the grid-work was done kind of poorly, but I doubt I could do better, so I am happy with it. Also part of this project was started last week, Getting the light out of the way of the dartboard. One of the lights in the basement hung right above the throw area for our dartboard, and some people had a habit of hitting it. Now that area is lit with recessed lighting. To those of you who complained every time we threw darts: You are welcome.
